Instagram influencer pricing- How to charge brands as an Instagram influencer
Instagram influencer pricing is a topic that is a bit of a grey area.
In business, one of the things you will have to do is price your product or service. For goods, it is quite easy because all you have to do is
- Make sure the price you attach to the item covers the cost of production
- Add markup to make sure you are making a profit.
For example, if the cost of producing one unit of trouser costs $2 then you can either
- Price the item at $2 to cover the cost of production
- Price the item at $4 to cover the cost of production($2) and make a profit ($2).
However, when pricing services and especially Instagram influencer pricing, determining the price to charge is not that easy. How then do you know how to charge?
These are some of the methods you can use.
Charge based on the number of followers the account has. Ie 0.001$ per follower.

Let us say you have 20,000 followers and someone says they need you to post an advert for a day. Your price for the post on your page will be 20,000*0.001 = 20. You will charge them $20 for a post per day. This is will be your pricing.
Hi Miss/Mr. Influencer, we have seen you have quite a following on Instagram and we would like you to post 3 of our products on your page for 3 days, how much do you charge?
“Hi, Miss/Mr. Company thanks for the inquiry. I currently have 20,000 followers who would potentially see your products when I post. I will charge you $20 per post per day. That means for your 3 posts for 3 days the total will be
$20*3posts*3days = $120
Charge 1$ per 1000 impressions

That means if 1000 people have viewed the post (denoted by impressions on Instagram insights) then you charge $1. All you have to do is check what the average impressions per post on your page are and use that as your starting point to actually give a price.
Let us say the average impressions on a post on your page is 10,000 impressions then the price you give to the client is
10,000/1000*$1 = $11
Hi Miss/Mr. Influencer, we have seen you have quite a following on Instagram and we would like you to post 3 of our products on your page for 3 days, how much do you charge?
“Hi, Miss/Mr. Company thanks for the inquiry. I will charge you $11 per post per day. That means for your 3 posts for 3 days the total will be
$11*3posts*3days = $66
We can charge on the basis of cost per click on the link on the bio
Instagram allows you to put a link on the bio. This is a selling point for some brands. They would want you to put a link to their website(or whatever they else is on the internet). You can charge $1 for the number of times the link is clicked. Again, you can start by testing out a link for free to get an idea of the average number of clicks you are likely to get for a link.
If you have an average of 100 clicks on a link per day then the amount you would charge is $100 per day for the link on bio
100clicks* $1 = $100
Charge Swipe up per Post.
This is similar to charging/pricing on the basis of cost per click. You can charge $1 for the number of times people swipe up. Again, you can start by testing out a swipe up post for free to get an idea of the average number of clicks you are likely to get for a swipe up button.
If you have an average of 100 swipes upon an Instagram story per day then the amount you would charge is $100 per day.
100clicks* $1 = $100
Conclusion
For Instagram influencer pricing, look at these 4 as starting points on how to price. You can certainly negotiate for higher prices(which I highly recommend) but if you want a quick way to go about it as you learn your trade, this is a good place to start.
The good thing about these 4 methods, they take into account that your Instagram following and reach is growing. Meaning the more you grow, the higher your pricing.
